Modern Architects for Rural India (MARI) was setup in 1988. We are a professional organisation engaged in uplifting the lives of the poor and the marginalised. Towards this end, we work in 738 villages spread across Warangal, Karimnagar, Adilabad and Medak districts of Telangana State. We have been consciously involved in feeding our learning from grassroots innovation, and design and implementation of programmes into policy formulation. And in the process, MARI has been successful in influencing people centric policies and programmes.

MARI has also been extensively engaged in networking for policy change not only with NGOs within the State but also at National and International level. One of the notable networking experiences of MARI is association with Fresh Water Action Network South Asia (FANSA) and through it influencing right to water and sanitation in South Asian Conference on Sanitation (SACOSAN).

Our thematic interventions focus on the important sectors concerning lives and wellbeing of the poor and vulnerable sections of the society. These are Child Rights, Natural Resource Management, Sustainable Agriculture, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Access (Rural and Urban) and Rural Livelihoods and Governance. The strategies and approaches followed in achieving goal are Grassroots Innovation, Policy Research, Networking and Advocacy, and Knowledge Management.
